When you registered there was a page of "fine print" you agreed to, these guidelines outline a few of the more important aspects of our user policy!

  • The forum is NOT the venue for requesting personal family research or lookups that can be handled by our Research Officer.
  • The forum is for the discussion of genealogicallly related topics, simple queries, asking for advice etc
  • Our forums are for topic discussion only and its use for commercial, press releases, adverts, or any other solicited or unsolicited commercial communication posting is strictly forbidden.
  • Avoid digression from the forum description. If you feel a topic is not covered contact one of the moderators to discuss.
  • Please avoid quoting long messages when replying to a post. When replying only quote as much of the original post as necessary.
  • Please use standard size font when posting. All caps or large or small fonts or all bold or italic is not only hard to read, it's generally considered poor forum/net etiquette. For example, all caps is considered the equivalent of YELLING.
  • This last one is strictly personal - from us to you. You may post questions and ask complete strangers to solve them with no expectation of reward other than the satisfaction of knowing they helped.
But - that's what forums are for! Still, as is the case with pretty much everything we do in life, an occasional "please" and "thank you" won't hurt and are really nice to hear.

[/list]

Finally, we reserve the right to remove any posts we feel inappropriate.  Any infringements of the above guidelines will result in a warning, and if any further infringement occurs, the offender will be banned, stoned, tarred and feathered!
